Monday morning we picked up all our rentals. What this really means is that we got a truck and a van and started driving all over Los Angeles to get them filled with . . . stuff. Lights, cameras, cables, stands, everything we need for 9 days of shooting. Brandon, our production designer, brought furniture and pictures to decorate the house we are filming in. I picked up all our equipment, which means I’m grateful for two things: one, that James (our cinematographer) had his crew checking the orders before I pick them up, because I don’t know any of the equipment and wouldn’t know if it was missing or damaged; and two, that the rental house helps us load our truck.

This place reminds me of shopping at electronics and hardware stores when I was a kid, except this place has really BIG lights, and really BIG cables, and really BIG pieces of hardware. It’s pretty cool.
